By The OneTech Computers team, laptop and phone specialists in Nairobi · Published · 1 min read
The short answer
Spend ten minutes checking a used laptop as soon as it arrives: the body and hinges, screen, keyboard and touchpad, every port, Wi-Fi, battery health and storage. Compare what you see with the condition grade on the listing, and report anything wrong within 48 hours of delivery so we can put it right quickly.
Key facts
| Time needed | About 10 minutes |
|---|---|

The checklist
Body and hinges
Open and close the lid: the hinges should feel firm. Compare marks with the condition grade on the listing.
Screen
Open a plain white page, then a black one: look for dead pixels, bright spots or lines.
Keyboard and touchpad
Type every key in a text editor and test left and right click.
Ports and connections
Try each USB port, the charger, headphone jack, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Battery health
On Windows, open Command Prompt and run powercfg /batteryreport, then compare "full charge capacity" with "design capacity". Ex-UK batteries will be below 100%.
Storage and memory
In Settings › System › About, confirm the RAM and storage match the listing.
Activation
Check Settings › System › Activation shows Windows is activated.
